1. REMOVE MAGNET STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the nut and disconnect the lead wire from the magnet starter switch assembly.

  1. Remove the 2 nuts that hold the magnet starter switch assembly to the starter housing.

  1. Remove the plunger hook from the pinion drive lever while lifting the front of the magnet starter switch, and then remove the starter magnet starter switch.

2. REMOVE STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the 2 through bolts and pull out the field frame together with the armature.



3. REMOVE STARTER COMMUTATOR END FRAME ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the 2 screws and commutator end frame, and hold down the lead wire while releasing the commutator end frame.

    NOTICE:
    1. To avoid the interference between the brush holder and the dust starter protector, tilt the commutator end frame while removing it.
    2. Hold down the lead wire while removing the commutator end frame.



4. REMOVE STARTER BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY

  1. Using a screwdriver, hold the spring back and disconnect the brush holder.

  1. Disconnect the 4 brushes and remove the starter brush holder.



5. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the pinion starter armature from the starter yoke.



6. REMOVE STARTER CLUTCH SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the pinion drive lever and starter clutch with planet carrier shaft from the starter drive housing.

  1. Using a screwdriver, tap in the starter pinion stop nut towards the starter clutch.

  1. Using a screwdriver, pry off the snap ring.

  1. Remove the starter pinion stop collar and starter clutch from the planet carrier shaft.
